Domaine La Lôyane is a family-owned estate founded in 2001, cultivating around 25 hectares of vineyards across Rochefort-du-Gard, Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Saze on the right bank of the southern Rhône. The vineyards benefit from a diverse terroir of clay, sand and rounded pebbles, and are farmed with careful attention to the environment and naturally low yields. Cuvée Elie is produced from mature vines and reflects the estate’s commitment to precise, parcel-by-parcel winemaking.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in colour, the nose reveals aromas of dark berries, blackberry preserve, garrigue and subtle leather. The palate is generous and velvety, showing concentrated black fruit supported by freshness and well-defined tannins that remain fine and supple. The finish is long and structured, balancing richness with elegance.
Winemaking
A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from vines aged approximately 40–60 years, grown on clay-siliceous soils with rolled pebbles. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before vinification. Fermentation and maturation take place in large demi-muid oak barrels, with the wine aged for around 12 months to develop structure and complexity while preserving fruit purity.
Food Pairing
An excellent partner for richly flavoured dishes such as côte de bœuf, roast game, or hearty Italian cuisine. Also pairs well with mature cheeses or red fruit desserts.
