Barbaresco at this price is almost unheard of, and one this good is a rare thing indeed. The tannins are gentler and softer than some Nebbiolos, and it has a good depth of flavour which results in a very nicely balanced wine. There's stewed dark fruits, a hint of more vibrant cherry and a touch of spice on the finish.
This 35 hectare proper ty, which dates back to 1890, is located in Moasca in the Asti province. The Mazzei family, who took over in the 1990s, worked hard to improve the vineyards and create a modern cellar. This ivestment is now clear to see in the quality of the wines being produced.
